Hi guys. Let me talk serious right now. None of this breaking the fourth wall, and none of this pregger fetishes (shivers). In three weeks I will be graduating college and I am already applying to places for gigs here and there. I am in the process of looking for a studio to work at, and I am in discussion with peers over making an illustration magazine (more to promote ourselves and not really to sell). This said, Punks and Nerds, like I planned from the start, will be ending shortly.
Sort of.
This is what's going to happen. Things will slowly dwindle down. I will begin to deny adspace, and slowly halt production of merchandise one by one. I might change the schedule to five days a week once graduation ends. I will not be reordering on the books, so if you want one, they are almost gone. Oddly enough the last few are always the hardest to get rid of. Punks and Nerds will continue for probably the rest of 2006. 2007? I doubt it.
But there will be a spin off. The name of the spin-off will be simply "Mike and Brad" until I can come up with a better title, and the updates will lessen so that my main focus will revolve around my illustration career. It will not be heavily plot based, but it might mature a bit. So you might see less dildo jokes and more of something worth writing about. The archive will be found here no problem, but the comics will be updated on a blog that will include illustration related material. That means some updates will be "Mike and Brad" the continuation of Punks and Nerds, but will also include sketches, notes and final projects that I will be hired to do (as well as for just me). This has been decided because it is very vital for my generation of illustrators to have a blog to just get your name out there in the community as well as show potential bosses to show them that you are always constantly working.
I know if I made this separate from Punks and Nerds, Punks and Nerds would be severely neglected. Look at what happened to Stubble.
For the next three weeks, things shall remain the same, as if nothing is going to happen, but once I graduate, expect the first sign of moving on, and that will be some of the announcements of discontinuing shirts, one by one. If you want something, get it now while the discounts are still up, and then only the discontinuing items will be discounted until they are gone for good.
Everyone that I enjoy writing will be simply moving to a new home. They might not have their own pad, but they'll be crashing at this other place that should be a fun experience. I mean, come on. I can't stop writing about Bruceman even when Punks and Nerds ends in all its forms.
